Many people have had some contact with knot-making or macramé at some point in their lives. Let's start with the basics and take a look at some types of knots or you can head over to the Boxes Tutorial and start creating!
Box O'Knots brings a variety of bracelet and necklace designs that are easy to make and beautiful to wear.
In your Box O'knots, you will find all the materials needed to complete the project in the box.

Starter Knot and Square Knots
They are the basis of macramé. The square knot is one of the first knots learned as it is in some way or another in every macrame project.
It is an essential and common knot in macramé and will be used in many of Box O’Knot's designs. You will find a variety of tutorials for this knot on the internet.
Always be careful not to trim the strings too much, and make sure you have enough material for your project.
To make bracelets, the most common start is to gather the string(s) as instructed and make a knot to tie it/them together, making sure to leave enough thread to close the bracelet, usually about 10-13 cm (see image)
The FIRST KNOT can be just a regular knot or square knot as well.

Starting a Square Knot after the first knot
STEP 1 String 1 (yellow in the image) goes over the fixed guide string
STEP 2 String 2 (blue in the image) goes under and above string1, under the guide and through and over string 1
STEP 3 Tie it firmly and close to the first knot and the procee; String 1 goes under String 2 and over the guide through and under String 2 (watch video tutorial)
String 2 goes over string1, under the guide and through and over String1
STEP 4 Keep knotting until the desired length. Try to make knots even, (not too tight as the very first knot) and close to each other

Heaving Line Knot
Fold the thread so the knot falls where you want it to be.
Go around the thread 2-3 loops and then put the thread through where you folded the thread, and pull to tie the knot.
Do it slowly so you can control where the knot stays and then pull it tight, after you are sure it is in the desired position.

Double Overhand - STOPPER KNOT
Make a regular overhand knot.
Then go round once more as shown on the image and pull it to tie.
Again, do it slowly so you can control where the knot stays and then pull it tight.
Double string Necklaces and Stop a Bead or Pendant
Necklaces with double string can be tied one side around the other or both sides together in one knot
Overhand, double overhand, heaving line knot and even 8 figure sliding knot can all be used to stop beads where you want them to stay.
Lakershead Knot
Fold the thread where you want the knot to be forming a loop.
Put the loop through the bead hole or the jump ring or just around the thread following the design you got.
Now put both ends of the loop thread through the loop, tieing it around the thread/bead hole, jump ring.
Do it slowly so you can control where the knot stays and then pull it tight after you are sure it is in the desired position.

Figure-eight sliding
stopper knot
This is easier to look at the figure than explaining in words. Loop one of the ends of thread around the back of the other coming to the front and down and going around the back again, now lacing both threads and going to the front and through the loops formed.
Relax, you can use a regular overhand knot to stop beads on its place.

Necklaces
Adjustable Closure Sliding Knot
Finish the Necklace design. Put both thread's ends side by side as illustrated. If there are beads for the end of the thread you may want to knot it in place first.
Make one Heaving Line Knots or a Stopper with each thread end going around the other side of the thread. Both knots will slide so you will be able to adjust necklace length.
